Architecture educates more than a board.  It proposes to whom lives in it the sensitive and intelligent knowledge of customs or habits of behavior that have to do directly with the condition of being a citizen.

The Designing program is an applied investigation project about architecture and education, initiated in 1996 in the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the University of the Andes.

It has as purpose to investigate the conceptual foundation and the academic contents required to democratize the basic understanding of the elements and principles of architecture and city. It is considered that its knowledge on part of the citizens is a necessary pedagogical factor for the construction of collective live.

The program proposes to institute the basic understanding of the elements and principles of architecture and city, as a content of general knowledge to be implanted in both public and private schools of the formal education, as in diverse sceneries of urban communities that participate in the social construction of the habitat.
